Senior Hamas official Khaled al-Hajj has called for urgent action to save the life of Palestinian prisoner Abdul-Baset Maatan a cancer-stricken administrative detainee from Burqa town in eastern Ramallah.
In a statement Hajj appealed to human rights groups to urgently intervene to pressure Israeli jailers to release prisoner Maatan in order for him to receive proper medical care outside in the presence of his family.
The Hamas official expressed his grave concern over the life of the prisoner who suffers from life-threatening cancer.
Prisoner Maatan was arrested on October 25 2021 and underwent multiple surgical procedures before his detention.
During one of those operations part of his colon was removed before doctors found out later that the cancer cells did not die out and warned that the disease in his body could spread again.
