Hamas Movement said in a brief statement issued Friday morning that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Rami Hamdallah’s government are fully responsible for Gaza’s electricity shortage crisis.
Spokesman for the group Fawzi Barhoum affirmed that “Gaza’s electricity shortage is a fabricated and politicized crisis that aims at taking control of the besieged Strip.”
Hamas called on Abbas and his government to stop this manipulation and exploitation of the most basic humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza.
The statement also called for working on putting an end to the electricity crisis and meeting Gaza people’s humanitarian needs.
“We will never give up on our people at any cost” the statement stressed.
“We are ready to work seriously to find a final end to this crisis” according to the statement.
Gaza Strip suffers severe electricity shortages over the years which have exacerbated the already dire living conditions in the besieged Gaza Strip.
The UN has warned that the Gaza Strip would become uninhabitable for residents by 2020 pointing to the devastation of war and nearly a decade of Israel’s blockade.
