Hamas on Friday hailed Jerusalemite MPs for standing on guard to Israel’s oppressive and racist schemes.
“Palestinian MPs in Occupied Jerusalem have been on their guard in the face of the racist schemes pursued by the Israeli occupation” Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif al-Kanou’ said referring to Israel’s attempt to rescind MPs’ identity documents a few years ago that was rescinded by a court ruling a couple of days ago.
On Wednesday the Israeli Supreme Court accepted a petition filed against the revocation of residency permits of four Palestinian parliamentarians.
The MPs are Muhammad Abu-Teir Ahmad Attoun Muhammad Totah and Khaled Abu-Arafeh – who was also formerly appointed Palestinian Minister of Jerusalem Affairs. They were all elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 2006.
In June 2006 the Israeli occupation authorities moved to revoke the four men’s residency permits claiming a “breach of loyalty” to the Israeli entity.
