The Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri said on Sunday that his Movement will not hold local elections in the Gaza Strip due to the manipulation of the laws and the election process.
Abu Zuhri stated on Twitter on Sunday that the Central Elections Commission (CEC) had failed in fulfilling its pledges to respect the law with regards to the security authorities and courts in Gaza and the West Bank.
The CEC chairman Hanna Naser said earlier on Sunday that the Commission has taken a decision to debate with Hamas about completing the municipal elections in the Gaza Strip.
Naser stressed that the municipal elections held on Saturday in the West Bank were incomplete because of the absence of Gaza’s participation.
