Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri has affirmed that “all Palestinian parties are demanded to respect the national consensus after they agreed on delaying the elections for another year.”
“Neither the Palestinian Authority presidency nor any other party has the right to take decisions unilaterally and away from consensus and partnership with regard to political issues or other matters” Abu Zuhri stated in Twitter remarks on Thursday.
A final statement released last Wednesday by Palestinian factions in the Cairo national dialog has called on the central elections commission and all concerned parties to make all preparations for the holding of concurrent presidential legislative and national council elections by the end of 2018.
The factions also delegated PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to set a date for the elections in consultation with all political parties.
