Hamas Movement lashed out at the new Israeli government following the Israeli Knesset endorsement of that government led by Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday.
63 members of the Knesset voted in favor of the confidence while 54 others voted against it. Netanyahu was thus sworn in for his sixth term as prime minister.
In a press statement Hamas spokesman Abdul Latif Al-Qanou stressed that the Knesset’s confidence vote makes it imperative on the Palestinian people to unite in defense of the Palestinian lands and holy sites against Netanyahu’s “fascist” government.
For his part Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem affirmed that Palestinian people are facing a new Zionist government which is the most extremist in terms of its components “terrorist” members and declared agenda adding that the new Israeli government’s announced policies reflect its fascism against the Palestinian people.
Qassem reiterated the Palestinians’ right to resist the Israeli policies of settlement expansion and annexation schemes in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem adding that the Palestinian people and resistance will stay united to foil the Israeli new government’s plans.
