Hamas: Trump’s threat reflects his arrogance

Thursday 21-December-2017

The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has flatly rejected the threats of US President Donald Trump to the countries that will vote in favor of a draft resolution condemning the US’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital threatening to cut assistance given to these countries by the United States.

Ismail Radwan a Hamas leader said in a statement to the PIC that Trump’s threats reflect the law of the jungle and the American arrogance in the region.

Radwan said: “This language is unacceptable and we call upon the Arab and Muslim nations and the free world to respond to these threats by thwarting this decision and isolating the American administration.”

The Hamas leader called for isolating President Trump and the American administration and to completely reject his policy which is biased in favor of the Israeli occupation.

He added: “The American administration chose to be against the Palestinian people and the Arab and Muslim nations. Jerusalem represents the creed politics and legitimacy of the nation.”

Radwan pointed out that there are strategic risks due to the American decision notably changing the demographics of Jerusalem and its impact on the population of the holy city.

He added “The decision gave the occupation the green light to continue the Judaization of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque and the control of the holy city which means increasing violations against our people and the increase of criminal colonies in a manner that leads to the elimination of Arab and Islamic landmarks in Jerusalem.”

He stressed the need to take Arab and Muslim actions at the international level and cut diplomatic and economic relations with the US administration and the Israeli occupation and the prosecution of the leaders of the occupation at international courts.

As for the issue of Palestinian reconciliation Radwan said: “Unfortunately reconciliation until now has not seen progress due to the stands of our brothers in the Fatah movement and especially due to Mahmoud Abbas’s position and the consensus government.”

He added “We have done everything from our side and we are constantly ready to push for reconciliation. There will be no reversal in the path toward reconciliation.” He stressed that the government should lift the sanctions on the Gaza Strip and resolve the crises and problems of Gaza.

He added: “It is necessary for Mr. Mahmoud Abbas to accelerate the steps of reconciliation to arrange the Palestinian home.” He affirmed that the strongest response to Trump’s decision is to achieve national unity.
