Hamas Movement described the US Senate’s approval to retain the American embassy in Jerusalem as a violation of international law.
Hazem Qassem Hamas’s spokesman said in a statement on Friday “The Senate’s decision to keep the American embassy in Jerusalem and to recognize it as the capital of the Zionist entity (Israel) with an absolute majority of the Democratic and Republican parties is a violation of international law.”
“This decision will not change the reality and history namely the Palestinian people’s full right to Jerusalem city and will not deter the Palestinians’ struggle to expel the occupation from all of our Palestinian lands and establish our independent state with Jerusalem as its capital” he underlined.
On Friday the US Senate overwhelmingly voted in support of retaining the US embassy in Jerusalem. The former US President Donald Trump moved the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in mid-2018 after recognizing Jerusalem in 2017 as the alleged capital of Israel.
