Hamas Movement confirmed on Thursday that the Palestinian resistance during the last Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip in May 2021 targeted only Israeli military gatherings.
The Movement clarified in a statement that it followed up on the Human Rights Watch report regarding the latest Israeli attack that lasted 11 days which left 255 Palestinians killed including 39 women and 67 children and 1948 injured in addition to completely or partially destroying 41648 housing units.
Hamas stressed the importance of the report’s accusation of Israel of committing crimes that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip. It also lauded the report for calling on the international community to hold Israel accountable to take all necessary measures to stop such repeated aggressions and end the occupation. However it criticized the report’s accusation of Hamas that it had bombed Israeli civilians.
It affirmed that it had taken all necessary measures to avoid targeting civilians wherever they are in addition to the resistance’s constant keenness to develop its capabilities so that it can accurately target Israeli military headquarters and activities only.
Hamas affirmed that the Palestinians have the right to defend themselves and their holy sites and to resist occupation by all available means including armed resistance as guaranteed by international laws.
The Movement concluded by welcoming the formation of an international committee to investigate the repeated Israeli aggressions on the Gaza Strip and expressed readiness to cooperate with this committee in order to reveal the truth and bring justice to the victims.
