A delegation from Hamas the Interior Ministry and the Higher Shariah Court Council met on Tuesday with Bishop Alexius of the Roman Orthodox Church in Gaza at his residence.
A spokesman for Hamas Fawzi Barhoum said that “the meeting came within the framework of the Movement’s keenness on keeping in touch with all community groups and promoting the national unity.
Barhoum added that the visit reflected that the Palestinian people Christians and Muslims have one enemy and share the same suffering from the occupation.
According to the spokesman the two sides talked about the importance of holding such meetings in order to strengthen the national bonds and maintain good relations between the Palestinians from all spectra.
For his part Bishop Alexius thanked members of the delegation for their visit and their keenness on staying in contact with the Christian community in Gaza.
The Bishop expressed hope that the Palestinian people could get rid of the occupation very soon and enjoy security stability and prosperity.
