The Hamas Movement has called on Egypt to sponsor a comprehensive national dialog between the Palestinian rivals to discuss the initiative put forth by the Islamic Jihad Movement.
During a political meeting held Tuesday in Gaza senior Hamas official Ismail Radwan hailed the role of Egypt in sponsoring Palestinian talks on different occasions as well as its previous efforts to heal the rift in the Palestinian arena.
Radwan highlighted the importance of the Palestinian dialog as a springboard for the achievement of the reconciliation and the formulation of a Palestinian strategy on the basis of protecting the national constants and the resistance option.
He also urged Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas to welcome the initiative and renounce his security collaboration with Israel.
Islamic Jihad secretary-general Ramadan Shallah last Friday announced a new initiative to resolve the inter-Palestinian crisis.
His initiative has included a call for revoking the Oslo peace accords between the Palestinian Authority and Israel.
