Hamas Movement strongly condemned on Wednesday “the Israeli occupation authorities’ closure of the Al-Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil to Muslim worshippers.”
In a statement Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum condemned “allowing colonial settlers to defile it and violate its sanctity by holding festivals there” and considered such practices a flagrant violation of freedom of worship.
“We affirm that the Al-Ibrahimi Mosque is a Muslim place of worship and this fact was confirmed by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2017 and that the colonial settlers have no right to it” the statement reads.
Barhoum concluded by calling on the Palestinian people and factions to continue resisting the Israeli occupation forces and settlers’ violations.
He also called on the international and human rights bodies to condemn and criminalize these acts and lend their support to the Palestinian people land and sanctities.
