The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas extended its condolences to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the passing away of its President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahayan.
The Movement said in a statement on Friday that it extends its condolences to the UAE people and leadership on the demise of Sheikh Khalifa.
Hamas asked for mercy for the deceased and for patience for the UAE people and leadership.
Relations were tense between Hamas and the UAE that further deteriorated after the UAE signed a normalization deal with Israel.
The UAE officially announced on Friday the death of Sheikh Khalifa who took over presidency of the country after the death of his father Sheikh Zayed in 2004.
