Hamas Movement said that the recent statements of Ilhan Omar a member of the US House of Representatives are very surprising as she equated the Palestinian resistance on the one hand with the crimes of the Israeli occupation in Palestine and the American aggression in Afghanistan on the other hand.
Dr. Basem Naim a member of the International Relations Office of Hamas Movement in a written statement on Friday affirmed his Movement’s appreciation of Omar’s positions in defending justice and the rights of the oppressed around the world foremost of which are the just rights of Palestinians.
“However these unjust and contrary to international law statements are reprehensible” he added.
Naim pointed out that the Palestinian people have been living under the “Zionist” occupation for more than seven decades during which they suffered from the most heinous crimes yet they remained steadfast fighting for their freedom and independence.
Naim confirmed that any people under occupation exercise their inherent right to resist the occupation by all available means including armed resistance.
Hamas Movement presented many initiatives regarding the necessity of sparing civilians from the conflict and the Movement’s keenness on that. Nevertheless all these initiatives were rejected by Israel and it deliberately targeted civilians during its attacks.
He pointed out that the Movement welcomed all the international investigation committees and expressed its readiness to cooperate with them to achieve justice and hold the aggressors accountable while Israel completely refused to cooperate and allow them to access Palestine.
Naim concluded the statement saying “We expect from Omar and all defenders of Palestinian rights to describe things correctly and accurately because this is the most important starting point for establishing the foundations for a just solution to this chronic conflict.”
