Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem has strongly denounced Palestinian Authority (PA) president Mahmoud Abbas for threatening to prevent any project that contributes to alleviating the suffering of the population in the Gaza Strip.
In press remarks on Saturday Qasem accused the PA leadership of exploiting the humanitarian suffering of the Gaza population to achieve partisan goals.
“The PA leadership was supposed to lift its sanctions which have contributed to increasing the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and not to reject any measure helping in mitigating Gaza problems” the spokesman said.
He also said that Abbas’s remarks last Friday about the American field hospital and other humanitarian projects in Gaza were intended to cover his “criminal” security coordination with the Israeli occupation state.
Abbas on Friday said he would not allow a US field hospital to open in Gaza claiming the project was part of the deal of the century although the hospital is being funded by an American apolitical relief organization called Friend Ships and is aimed to provide medical help for Gaza people.
