Hamas deplores Paraguayan president’s decision against it

Friday 23-August-2019

The Hamas Movement has strongly denounced the Paraguayan president Mario Abdo Benitez’s decision to designate it as a terror group.

In a statement on Thursday Hamas said that such decision violate international laws that stipulate the right of occupied peoples to resist occupying powers and their aggression by all available means including the armed struggle as asserted by the UN in its resolution “A/RES/34/37.”

“Such decisions would strengthen the terrorism which the Israeli occupation has been practicing for decades against our Palestinian people and provide it with the cover to persist in its crimes and avoid accountability” the Movement underlined.

“The Islamic Resistance Movement ‘Hamas’ is a Palestinian resistance movement struggling for the freedom and independence of its own people” it affirmed adding that it has no enmity towards any nation and its fight is only directed against the Israeli occupation.

Hamas asked the Paraguayan leadership to immediately reverse this decision and adopt positions in support of the Palestinian people’s aspirations for liberation and independence.
