Hamas leadership tables vision to heal Palestinian rift

The Hamas Movement said its leadership offered during its meeting with Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas in Doha an integrated vision to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation through specific mechanisms and steps.

In a press release Hamas explained that these mechanisms and steps depend on honoring the previous agreements signed between the two sides in Cairo Doha and Gaza especially with regard to the holding of comprehensive Palestinian elections.

During the meeting the Hamas leaders emphasized the importance of upholding the principle of partnership in all positions of responsibility and decision-making through a national unity government the legislative council and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

They also called for necessarily reaching a consensus on a political and struggle program to confront the Israeli occupation its settlement plans and aggressive acts in Palestine and working together to provide the Palestinian people with a decent life and support their steadfastness.

Hamas political leader Khaled Mishaal and his deputy Ismail Haneyya met with Abbas on Thursday in the house of Qatari foreign minister Mohamed Al Thani.

In the same press release Hamas has expressed its appreciation for Qatar’s ongoing efforts to end the Palestinian division and its role in supporting the Palestinian people and their national cause.
