A Hamas delegation on Wednesday visited the International Red Cross office in Beirut for a discussion over the Palestinian prisoners’ file.
The delegation included prisoners’ advocate in Lebanon Ahmad al-Assadi and Hamas’s political chief in Beirut Ahmad al-Haj along with Palestinian relations’ chief in Lebanon Mashhour Abdul Haleem.
The envoys discussed the issue of the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and the latest Israeli human rights violations against them.
The Hamas delegation pointed to the death of the Palestinian detainee Mohamed Jallad due to medical neglect in an Israeli hospital.
Hamas representatives called on the Red Cross to take up its responsibilities as regards the prisoners’ cause and to cease double-standard policies.
A memorandum written both in Arabic and English was handed over by the delegation to the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Lebanon.
