Raafat Murra a senior official in Hamas stressed on Sunday the importance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
In a press statement marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People Murra said that this day has helped to internationalize the Palestinian cause and defend the Palestinian right to resist occupation.
However he said the Palestine Liberation Organization’s recognition of Israel has thwarted the symbolism of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
“As we mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People we affirm our people’s right to continue struggle against the Israeli occupation to resist the occupation by all possible means and to live in peace security and stability without occupation and terrorism” the press statement reads.
In 1977 the UN General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
