Hamas sets up mourning tent for youth killed by Israeli army

Tuesday 7-March-2017

Hamas Movement on Tuesday evening set up a mourning tent for Basil al-A’raj killed by the Israeli forces one day earlier.

The tent was pitched in Rafah south of Gaza Strip. Hamas leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions in Rafah along with dozens of civilians flocked to the tent.

Hamas leader Issa al-Nashar said al-A’raj is an icon of resistance who died while fighting the Israeli occupation.

Fatah leader Abdul Rauf Barbakh said al-A’raj sacrificed his soul for the sake of his motherland—Palestine.

For his part Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum hailed al-A’raj as a symbol of the anti-occupation struggle who confronted and battled the Israeli soldiers until his last breath.

Barhoum said Israel’s murder of the Palestinian anti-occupation youth will only make the Palestinian people and resistance stronger throughout the anti-occupation fight.

Member of the Central Committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine Iyad Awadallah also stated that the casualty is a prototype of self-abnegation and sacrifice.

28-year-old Basil al-A’raj was fatally gunned down by the Israeli occupation army in the central West Bank province of Ramallah at daybreak Monday.
