The Hamas Movement has condemned the congratulations on the Hebrew new year that were offered recently by Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas to Israeli war minister Benny Gantz as a “provocation against the Palestinian people.”
“Such congratulations are considered disregard for the Palestinian people’s suffering that has been caused by the viciousness of the occupation army led by Benny Gantz and a behavior that does not represent anyone from the Palestinian people” Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem said in a statement on Monday.
Spokesman Qasem added that Abbas’s greetings to Gantz on the Hebrew new year coincided with growing settler violations at the Aqsa Mosque and Israeli persistence in its aggressive practices against the Palestinian citizens in the West Bank.
According to WAFA news agency Abbas phoned Gantz and congratulated him on the Hebrew new year.
