Hamas urges int’l action to help Palestinians in Lebanon

Sunday 25-September-2022

Hamas spokesman Jihad Taha has called for finding out the reasons that prompt Palestinian refugees from Lebanese camps and communities to risk their lives and migrate from the country on “death boats.”

In press remarks on Saturday spokesman Taha stressed the need to address the root causes that force Palestinian refugees from Lebanon to take such perilous and often deadly migration journeys.

The spokesman said that his Movement would do its best to heal the wounds of the Palestinians living in Lebanon especially the families of the martyrs who drowned recently and alleviate their suffering in the midst of the successive crises that keep afflicting the country.

The spokesman appealed to the international community to pay special attention to the suffering of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.

He also stressed the need for providing the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon with the civil and human rights they are deprived of.

According to the Lebanese authorities at least 87 refugees and migrants died in Syrian waters after the boat they were aboard left the port of Miniyeh in Lebanon last Tuesday. 20 others survived and were transferred to a hospital in Syria.

The passengers aboard the boat were mostly Palestinians Syrians and Lebanese. They included women children men and elderly people.
