The Palestinian Authority (PA) government’s premier Rami Hamdallah on Monday met with the Israeli Minister of Finance Moshe Kahlon and the Coordinator of Israeli Government Activities in the Territories Yoav Mordechai in Ramallah.
Hamdallah’s office said in a statement that the meeting addressed important issues most notably the Israeli government’s decisions to build thousands of new settlement units and to cut funds to the PA as a punishment for paying salaries to the families of Palestinian martyrs and prisoners.
Last week Hamdallah also met with Mordechai and UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nikolay Mladenov in Ramallah while the Palestinian Minister of Economy Abeer Oudeh met with her Israeli counterpart Eli Cohen in Paris.
These meetings contradict the PA recent decision to sever economic relations with Israel as well as the Palestinian Central Council’s recommendations to halt security coordination with the Hebrew state.
