Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Wednesday phoned Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah and congratulated him on winning a non-permanent member seat at the UN Security Council (SC).
During his phone conversation with the Emir Haneyya hailed the election of Kuwait as a non-permanent member of the Security Council as “a reflection of its stature in the regional and international arenas.”
He stressed that Kuwait’s presence at the Security Council would strengthen its honorable position in support of the Palestinian people at international conferences and meetings.
The Hamas political chief wished the Emir of Kuwait every success in his efforts to achieve Arab reconciliation and protect the unity of the Gulf countries.
For his part Sheikh Sabah congratulated the Palestinian people on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan affirming his country’s presence at the Security Council would serve the Arab nation.
He highlighted his country’s supportive position towards the Palestinian people expressing hope to see the Arabs come together and live in a brotherly atmosphere during the holy month.
