Hayya: Dialogues are held to establish national salvation front

Sunday 18-June-2017

Member of the Hamas political bureau Khalil al-Hayya revealed on Sunday that his Movement is engaged in multiple dialogues with all Palestinian parties to establish a “national salvation front” following the recent measures adopted by the Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas against the Gaza Strip.

Hayya affirmed in an online interview Sunday that Abbas’s decisions will entrench the division.

He confirmed his Movement’s keenness to maintain strong relations with the Palestinians from all spectra and with the Arab nation.

He expressed regret over the disputes afflicting the Arab nation which are aimed at overshadowing the Palestinian cause and making Israel part of the regional alliances.

In a related context Hayya said that Hamas’s relations with Qatar are stable and that the Gulf crisis did not affect them.

He emphasized that the ties with Iran are also still stable and that his Movement is seeking to improve them welcoming all those who support the Palestinian people.

As for the relations with Egypt Hayya said that they are getting better and more stable adding that Hamas’s latest visit to Egypt was part of a series of visits and talks that lasted for 15 months.

In another context he noted that his Movement is not seeking a new war with Israel but he warned at the same time that Israel will pay a heavy price if the siege imposed on Gaza is not lifted soon.

Regarding the meetings between Hamas and Mohammed Dahlan a dismissed Fatah leader Hayya explained that the meetings have been going on for years with the aim of alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
