Hayya asks PA government to lift Gaza sanctions

Sunday 12-November-2017

Member of the Hamas Political Bureau Khalil al-Hayya on Sunday called on the Palestinian Authority (PA) government to lift the sanctions imposed on the Gaza Strip.

In a meeting entitled “Hamas and Students” held on Sunday in the presence of the head of the Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haneyya Hayya stressed the importance of achieving political partnership in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Hayya affirmed that the security issue is a “red line” and noted that the Palestinian factions agreed in the Cairo Agreement signed in 2011 that security coordination with the Israeli occupation is a “crime” and “great betrayal” under the Palestinian law.

The Hamas official confirmed his Movement’s refusal to recognize Israel saying “Hamas will never recognize Israel whether it joined the Palestine Liberation Organization or not.”

He asked the PA government to lift the sanctions it imposed on Gaza in April which included reducing power and medical supplies cutting the salaries of the PA employees in Gaza and forcing some of them into early retirement.

As for the Israeli repeated attacks and the latest aggression which targeted a resistance tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip Hayya explained that the Palestinian resistance will respond in the right time according to the vision it sets.

On the issue of the four Gazans believed to be detained in Egypt Hayya said that Hamas has repeatedly asked for information about their fate calling on the Egyptian authorities to disclose information whether the four youths are in their custody.
