Member of Hamas’s political bureau Khalil al-Hayya has warned that the Palestinian Authority’s attempt to convene a meeting for the Palestinian National Council (PNC) in Ramallah without honoring the signed agreements will deal a blow to the national reconciliation.
Hayya made his remarks during a large festival held on Wednesday in the Gaza Strip to mark the 29th founding anniversary of the Hamas Movement.
“We have to go back to what we have agreed upon to achieve unity and partnership and agree on a national strategy and program for the liberation of Palestine and the return of refugees” the Hamas official stated in a speech during the festival.
He called on the PA to release all political detainees and stop arresting citizens for resisting the occupation in the West Bank if it wanted to prove keenness on healing the rift in the Palestinian arena.
Hayya also called for necessarily pooling the Palestinian people’s efforts at home and abroad to curb Israel’s Judaization activities in Occupied Jerusalem.
He stressed the importance of using all forms of armed and popular resistance to force the Israeli occupation to recognize the Palestinian rights.
