The Palestinian prisoner Musa Soufan 47 is scheduled to start his chemotherapy sessions within days after being diagnosed with lung cancer rights sources revealed Wednesday.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) affirmed that Soufan was diagnosed with cancer last month saying that his health condition has been constantly deteriorating.
Soufan sentenced to life imprisonment suffers from many health problems. He has frequently demanded adequate medical treatment over the past years. However he received no response to his demands.
Soufan was a clear example of the Israeli deliberate medical negligence policy the PPS added.
The number of sick Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails has reached over 600 prisoners 200 of whom have been diagnosed with chronic illnesses including 22 prisoners with cancer and tumors of varying degrees.
The most dangerous of these cases is Nasser Abu Hamid who is in critical health as he battles lung cancer.
