Heneyya: Turkey’s failed coup attempt historic stopover

Sunday 16-July-2017

July 15 2016 marks a defining moment in Turkey’s and the world’s history political bureau chairman of Hamas Ismail Haneyya said referring to Turkey’s failed coup attempt.

In a letter sent to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Haneyya hailed the Turkish people which he said gave the world an inspirational lesson in self-determination and freedom.

“The Turkish people has become a prototype of righteousness thanks to its genius consciousness legendary perseverance and self-abnegation” said Haneyya.

Haneyya applauded the Turkish army for standing their ground to the coup attempt and the people for sidestepping their political and ideological divergences in the face of underway conspiracies.

“I’m writing to you at the same time when the Israeli occupation authorities had shut the doors of our holy al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam— banned the call to prayers and prevented worshipers from praying at the site in the first such move in half a century’s time in an attempt to divide the Mosque and hold sway over it” Hamas chief added.

“The Palestinians will stand as bulletproof vests to the Israeli aggressions against al-Aqsa” the letter read.

Addressing Erdogan Hanneya further stated: “We hope that you would as you’ve always done stand by al-Aqsa Mosque and defend the Palestinian cause at international platforms.”

On Friday the Israeli occupation forces banned Muslim prayer at al-Aqsa Mosque—the third holiest site in Islam—following a shootout with three Palestinian anti-occupation youths. The gunfight claimed the lives of the three Palestinians. Two Israeli soldiers were pronounced dead.
