Hisham Abu Hawash contracts Corona in Israeli hospital

Palestinian detainee Hisham Abu Hawash who recently ended his 141-hunger strike was infected with Corona virus in the Israeli Assaf Harofeh hospital.

Abu Hawash’s family accused the hospital administration of failing to provide the adequate care for his health situation especially that only 12 days have passed since he stopped his 141-hunger strike.

Abu Hawash was infected with Corona after he was moved to another room along with other patients despite his difficult health condition the family said pointing out that he was transferred to a specialized care unit.

The family further called for an international intervention to allow Abu Hawash’s transfer to a Palestinian hospital.

Abu Hawash a father of five has been detained since October 2020 where he received three administrative detention orders against him since his arrest one of which was issued during his hunger strike and for 6 months reduced later to four months.

He is a former prisoner who spent a total of eight years behind Israeli bars.

The Israeli occupation authorities administratively detain about 500 prisoners from the 4650 Palestinians it holds in its prisons according to Palestinian human rights organizations.
