IOA confiscates more West Bank lands to build the separation wall

Tuesday 16-January-2007

BETHLEHEM (PIC)– Israeli bulldozers on Tuesday started bulldozing lands in Um Salamona village to the south of Bethlehem city in preparation for constructing a section of the separation wall.

The town’s mayor Mahmoud Takatka said that the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) had confiscated 300 dunums of village lands cultivated with olives. He underlined that the sustenance of hundreds of villagers depend on the yield of this land.

He pointed out that villagers confronted the IOA bulldozers and clashed with the soldiers who fired at them live bullets and gas canisters.

The soldiers savagely used batons to beat up the unarmed Palestinian civilians injuring many of them while others were treated for suffocation the mayor elaborated.

Takatka appealed to all decision-makers worldwide to consider the tragedy that would befall the town’s inhabitants after completion of the racist separation wall.

The international court of justice in The Hague had deemed the wall “illegal” and called for its removal but Israel encouraged by the unlimited USA support ignored the ruling and continued to build the huge wall that is meandering through Palestinian West Bank areas.
