The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has backtracked on its decision to expand the fishing zone off the coast of the Gaza Strip to nine nautical miles instead of six.
According to the General Authority of Civil Affairs (GACA) in Gaza the Israeli side on Sunday morning took a final decision not to expand the fishing space after it was undecided regarding the matter.
Spokesman for the GACA Mohamed Maqadema told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that the fishing zone during the fishing season would remain six nautical miles.
Israel had informed the GACA last month that it would expand the fishing zone to nine nautical miles for one renewable month as of November.
