IOA locks up hunger striker in solitary cell as retaliatory step

Tuesday 3-January-2017

The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) isolated the Palestinian detainee Mohamed Alakma as a means to force him to suspend his hunger strike which entered its 7th day.

The IOA transferred 27-year-old Alakma to solitary confinement in the Negev desert jail as part of a punitive measure aiming to pressure him to suspend his open-ended strike which he started in protest at the extension of his administrative prison-term for the second time running with neither charge nor trial.

Prisoner Alakma was arrested by the occupation forces in August 15 2016 at a military checkpoint in Bartaa.

The IOA sentenced him to four months without any indictments and renewed the term for another four months just a few days before he was set to be released from jail.
