The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) renewed on Sunday the administrative detention of the Palestinian prisoner Mahmoud Shabana for six additional months.
The Israeli decision came only an hour before his scheduled release. He was told that he will be released on Sunday afternoon.
However he was surprised only an hour later that his administrative detention was renewed for six months.
Mahmoud Shabana 48 spent a total of 22 years in Israeli jails mostly in administrative detention.
Administrative detention is a policy that allows Israel to hold Palestinians for months and even years without charge or trial in total violation of the prisoners’ right to due process.
Israel currently holds 4650 Palestinians including 34 women 160 children and 500 administrative detainees in its jails according to observers.
