IOA says it seized chocolate bars to prevent funding of Hamas

Wednesday 18-August-2021

The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has confiscated 23 tons of chocolate bars going to the besieged Gaza Strip at the pretext that they would be used to fund the Hamas Movement’s military operations.

According to the Times of Israel news website Israeli tax officials intercepted a shipment of the confectionery as it passed from Egypt into Israel at the Nitzana border crossing.

A joint investigation report released by the Israeli military intelligence and the National Bureau for Counterterror financing claimed recently that the products were headed for Gaza and would be sold by Hamas to generate income.

The website said that the tax officials confiscated the shipment in compliance with an order signed by Israeli army minister Benny Gantz.
