IOF bars farmers from entering their olive groves south of Nablus

Sunday 6-November-2016

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Sunday morning prevented Palestinian farmers from entering their groves to harvest olives in Qaryut town south of Nablus.

Local official Bashar al-Qaryuti told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that Israeli soldiers barred farmer Refaat Salama and his son from collecting olives from their field claiming there was a security ban on their entry to the place.

Qaryuti added that other farmers from the family of Mohamed Zaghlawan were also denied access to their land in the morning but they were told that they would be allowed in after midday.

Other farmers however were allowed today to gather their olive crops from their fields near Eli settlement after soldiers had blocked their entry to the area several times before.

Meanwhile an extremist Jewish settler carrying a sharp object tried to attack Palestinian farmers during their presence in their fields in Qaryut before soldiers intervened and escorted him away.
