IOF injures dozens of Palestinians in West Bank protests

Scores of Palestinian citizens were injured on Friday when Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violently quelled several demonstrations in the West Bank against the settlement and the Israel-United Arab Emirates (UAE) peace deal.

Local sources said that dozens of Palestinian citizens suffered injuries by rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters when the IOF dispersed protests in Qalqilya and Ramallah.

Hundreds of Palestinian citizens took to the streets in Kafr Qaddum village in Qalqilya and al-Midya village in Ramallah in protest against Israel’s expanding settlement activity in the West Bank and the latest peace deal reached between Israel and the UAE.

The demonstrators chanted slogans and raised banners rejecting the deal and calling for activating all forms of resistance in the Palestinian territories.

The IOF met the peaceful protesters with live ammunition rubber-coated metal bullets tear gas canisters and stun grenades.

Dozens of Palestinian citizens were wounded on Friday when Israeli occupation forces (IOF) quelled weekly marches in the West Bank.

Local sources said that violent confrontations broke out between Palestinian demonstrators and IOF soldiers in Kafr Qaddum village east of Qalqilya City.

The IOF attacked the peaceful protesters with live ammunition rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters injuring a number of them.

The Palestinian residents of Kafr Qaddum take to the streets every Friday to protest the settlement expansion on their lands and call on the Israeli occupation authorities to open the village’s main road which has been closed for about 16 years.

Other clashes were reported between Palestinian youths and IOF soldiers at the northern and southern entrances to Qalqilya City.

Eyewitnesses said that the IOF fired rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas canisters at the youths who responded by throwing stones.

Meanwhile a Palestinian woman was wounded after the IOF opened fire at a Palestinian car near Tulkarem.

Local sources said that a woman in her fifties suffered moderate injuries in the upper part of her body after the IOF opened fire at the car which she was inside at a checkpoint near Tulkarem.

The woman was rushed to a hospital for treatment. No further details were given on the incident.

Dozens of Palestinian citizens were wounded on Friday when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) quelled anti-settlement protests in the north of the West Bank.

Murad Shtewi a popular resistance activist in Nablus said that scores of Palestinians choked on tear gas when the IOF violently dispersed a peaceful demonstration against settlement construction in Kafr Qaddum village.

Shtewi said that the IOF heavily fired tear gas canisters stun grenades and rubber-coated metal bullets at the Palestinian demonstrators who responded by throwing stones.

The Palestinian activist said that hundreds of Palestinians took part in the demonstration despite the stormy weather and heavy rain.

Every week the Palestinian residents of Kafr Qaddum and other West Bank villages stage protests against the apartheid wall and settlement construction.

About 650000 Israeli settlers currently live in 164 settlements and 116 outposts built illegally on seized Palestinian lands in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
