Tuesday 5-December-2006

Tulkarm- A Palestinian young man was killed and two others were wounded in an IOF Monday night incursion into the West Bank city of Tulkarm that ended with the arrest of scores of youths including a wounded activist.

Eyewitnesses said that disguised IOF units entered the city in a car with Palestinian registration plates and broke into a restaurant. They said that the unit members fired inside the café wounding at least two young men and detained all those present after forcing them to the ground facedown.

Minutes later tens of IOF armored vehicles stormed the suburb amidst intensified firing and under cover of Apache choppers the witnesses reported and noted that the soldiers blocked ambulance cars from rescuing the wounded for more than an hour.

One of the wounded Mahmoud Abdul Aal 25 who hails from the Gaza Strip died while another wounded youth called Anan Kamal Yaish 22 a reportedly AMB activist was arrested.

Medical sources said that the martyr was hit with a bullet in his left thigh but was left to bleed to death adding that paramedics could have saved his life if the soldiers allowed them to reach him.

The sources further noted that the martyr was beaten by the soldiers that led to breaking his left leg.

Residents threw stones and empty bottles at the invasion soldiers who responded with firing live and rubber-coated bullets hitting a 14-year-old child in his head with a rubber bullet. The child was rushed to Tulkarm hospital.

The IOF troops withdrew from the city after one and a half hour taking with them tens of civilians who were in the café at time of the attack.

Meanwhile resistance fighters in Gaza fired three homemade rockets at Israeli targets adjacent to the Strip in retaliation to the IOF Tulkarm raid.

An offshoot of the Fatah Movement took the credit for firing two missiles at Sderot settlement in the western Negev north of the Strip and a third at Kerem Shalom crossing to the south of the Strip.
