Tuesday 2-July-2019

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs said that the Israeli prison service (IPS) transferred on Monday morning all the Palestinian prisoners in Ashkelon jail to other prisons.

In a statement the Commission said that 50 prisoners were taken from their cells to other jails as a mass punitive measure against them.

The prisoners in Ashkelon jail suspended an open-ender hunger strike several hours after they announced it in mid-June following Israeli pledges to respond to their demands.

The prisoners demanded jailers at the time to provide them with a kitchen end financial punitive measures follow up the medical conditions of many sick inmates and bring back their representative Naser Abu Humaid from Nafha jail to Ashkelon.

The Ashkelon prisoners have been exposed to repressive measures by Israeli jailers since last April.
