Injuries arrests in Palestinian protests over US Jerusalem move

A number of Palestinian citizens were injured on 9th “Friday of Anger” in demonstrations launched in the West Bank and Gaza Strip against the US president Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Nearly 20 Palestinians were injured following Friday prayer after being attacked by the Israeli police with sound bombs tear gas canisters and metal bullets near the main entrance of al-Isawiya village in Jerusalem.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement that its crews treated 38 people in the West Bank on Friday five of whom were injured by live ammunition two suffered rubber bullet wounds and 31 suffered tear gas inhalation.

Several clashes broke out in different areas of Ramallah province during which dozens of Palestinians were injured due to the heavy firing of tear gas canisters sound bombs and live bullets by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).

Secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Front Wasel Abu Yousuf said that those confrontations are part of the continuing protests against the US decision which is aimed at excluding Jerusalem from negotiations dropping the right of return and liquidating the Palestinian cause.

Palestinian citizens as well as Israeli and foreign peace activists participated in a march organized by the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in Bil’in village to the west of Ramallah city.

The marchers raised Palestinian flags and portraits of Palestinian prisoners and chanted slogans condemning Trump’s Jerusalem decision.

A number of Palestinian youths chocked on tear gas during clashes with the IOF in Nabi Saleh village to the northwest of Ramallah.

Anti-settlement activist Mohammed al-Tamimi told Wafa news agency that the IOF violently quelled the weekly march in the village amid heavy firing of rubber-coated metal bullets sound bombs and tear gas canisters.

Al-Tamimi added that the IOF soldiers closed the village’s entrance and blocked movement in both directions.

Member of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in Ni’lin Mohammed Amira told Wafa that the IOF quelled the anti-settlement weekly march of Ni’lin and attacked the demonstrators with sound bombs and tear gas canisters causing dozens of injuries.

Dozens of Palestinians were injured after the IOF quelled peaceful demonstrations launched against the US Jerusalem move in several Nablus villages following Friday prayer.

Other injuries were reported in the IOF quelling of Kafr Qaddum’s anti-settlement weekly march in Qalqilya which demands opening the village’s road that has been closed for 14 years now.

Popular resistance coordinator in Kafr Qaddum Murad Shtewi said that the Israeli soldiers attacked the demonstrators including Palestinian citizens and foreign peace activists with tear gas canisters sound bombs and live bullets.

Gaza’s Ministry of Health announced that 15 Palestinians including a child were injured by the IOF gunfire during protests along Gaza’s eastern border fence against the US Jerusalem decision.

Since Trump decided to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel 26 Palestinians have been killed 6000 injured and 1200 arrested including 300 children in clashes and protests over the decision in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Meanwhile in the northern Jordan Valley the IOF on Friday afternoon stormed Khirbet al-Hadidiya in Wadi al-Maleh arrested a Palestinian citizen and interrogated another.

Local sources told the PIC reporter that the IOF soldiers arrested Sakhr Bisharat and his brother Abdulrahim. Abdulrahim was later released while Sakhr remained under arrest.

They added that the Israeli soldiers were deployed in large numbers with so many ambushes and checkpoints erected in the area.
