The Palestinian General Prosecutor’s Office in Gaza declared Saturday that the investigation into Mazen Fuqaha’s assassination is in full swing.
The Attorney-General Ismail Jabr said in a statement issued in the afternoon that the prosecution officers arrived to the scene immediately following the incident and opened an investigation into the assassination circumstances.
The General Intelligence was assigned to look for the killers and to collect criminal evidences determining the type of weapon used by them he pointed out.
For his part spokesman for the Palestinian Interior Ministry Iyad al-Bazem said that the security services are closely following up the investigation.
He also called on media outlets to consider their responsibilities in covering the events and not to spread rumors and fabricated news.
Earlier Friday unknown gunmen assassinated al-Qassam Brigades commander and ex-detainee Mazen Fuqaha in Tel al-Hawa area in southern Gaza City.
The Hamas Movement and its armed wing al-Qassam Brigades in the Gaza Strip have held the Israeli occupation state and its collaborators fully responsible for his assassination.
