The Islamic Jihad strongly condemned the ongoing sanctions imposed by the Mahmoud Abbas-chaired Palestinian Authority (PA) on the blockaded Gaza Strip.
The Islamic Jihad’s media chief in Palestine Daoud Shehab said the PA’s refusal to lift sanctions on the Gaza Strip and its crackdowns on the enclave’s workers are arbitrary and oppressive.
Shehab added that such measures make part of ongoing attempts to tighten the noose around Gazans’ neck.
In Shehab’s terms the punitive measures against Gazans are signs of “moral decadence” and a stab in their back.
The PA has stepped up pressure on the besieged coastal enclave of Gaza deducting 50% from workers’ salaries while their counterparts in the occupied West Bank are kept safe from such cuts.
