Islamic Jihad slams unilateral decision to hold PNC session

Wednesday 28-December-2016

The Islamic Jihad Movement turned down an invitation to attend the Palestinian National Council (PNC) session in the absence of serious national consultations.

Media office chief Daud Shehab said all Palestinians regardless of their affiliations have the right to take part in the process of decision-making as regards the reformation of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and underway preparations for a PNC session.

Hamas and the Islamic Jihad among all other national factions voiced their firm rebuff to attend a PNC session before all-embracing national consultations occur.

According to Shehab the fact that invitations to attend a PNC session were extended before comprehensive consultations take place is a sign of Fatah’s monopolization of decision making.

Shehab added that nothing can be gained by such an “unacceptable” fait accompli policy.

“The fate of the Palestinian people does not hinge on a decision made by a single party or person here or there” the official further stated.
