Israeli court extends detention of journalist Lama Ghosheh

Tuesday 6-September-2022

An Israeli court extended on Monday the detention of Jerusalemite journalist Lama Ghosheh for an additional two days at the pretext of giving the police more time to interrogate her.

Her husband Yassin said that the Israeli prosecutor asked the court to extend Ghosheh’s detention for eight days but the judge approved her detention until next Wednesday adding that his wife was accused of social media incitement.

He pointed out that Ghosheh was transferred to Hasharon Hospital on Sunday night and looked fatigued in the court.

Israeli police officers kidnaped Ghosheh a mother of two kids on Sunday morning after ransacking her home in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah and confiscated her cellphone and laptop.

Meanwhile the court of the Salem military base intends to hold a hearing today for prisoner Dina Jaradat a media university student from Jenin after it postponed it on Monday because of her health condition.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) Jaradat was transferred to an Israeli hospital on Saturday.

“The IPS transferred prisoner Dina Jaradat from Damon jail to the Israeli Rambam Hospital because she suffers from hydrocephalus and needs to have excess fluid removed from the brain every once in a while” PPS said in a statement.

Jaradat has been in detention since the seventh of last August.

PPS affirmed that Jaradat had not been provided with medical treatment during 15 days of interrogation at Jalamah jail before transferring her to Damon prison.
