The Israeli police on Sunday arrested two Jerusalemite activists in the vicinity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Local sources reported that the Israeli police arrested the two Jerusalemite activists Nafeesa Khweis and Raeda Said while they were leaving the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Earlier on Sunday hundreds of Jewish settlers raided the holy site. Israeli police closed the doors of the Al-Qibli mosque in the Al-Aqsa Mosque with iron chains and fired rubber-coated bullets at worshippers who tried to confront the settlers’ raid on the holy site.
For her part the Jerusalemite activist Hanadi Halawani said that Israel deliberately allows Jewish settlers to desecrate the Al-Aqsa Mosque and perform Talmudic ritual during their holidays warning that the settlers’ repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque are part of the Judaization plans.
Extremist Jewish groups had called for massive raids into the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday and Monday to celebrate Shavuot.
