Jenin: Project launched to model pre-1948 villages

Tuesday 11-April-2017

A Palestinian model village project was inaugurated Monday at al-Quds Open University in the West Bank city of Jenin as part of the Hadara (civilization) initiative. The model embodies the type and structure of Palestinian villages before 1948.

In a speech during the inauguration ceremony president of the University Imad Nazzal hailed the project and called for circulating the experience in other institutions as part of efforts to revive the Palestinian history.

For their part coordinators of the Hadara initiative Mohiuddin Khalayleh and Ni’ad Buqa’ee explained the idea of their project and stressed its importance as a means to expose Israel’s ethnic cleansing practices against the Palestinian people and their villages.

The Hadara initiative is a pioneering project carried out by Palestinian institutions in the 1948 occupied lands and is mainly aimed at recreating models of Palestinian villages that were destroyed in the wake of Israel’s creation on the land of Palestine in 1948.
