The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli police officers for protecting the extremist Jewish settlers’ raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque on Thursday.
“Al-Aqsa Mosque with its total area of 144 dunums is a place of worship for Muslims only” the ministry spokesman Haitham Abu al-Fool affirmed noting that the Jordan-run Jerusalem Awqaf and Aqsa Affairs Department is the sole authority to supervise its affairs and manage entries of non-Muslim visitors.
Abu al-Fool demanded Israel which is the occupying power in Jerusalem under international law to stop violating the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s sanctity and to abandon its attempts to change the de facto situation at the holy Islamic site.
Earlier in the morning hordes of Jewish settlers desecrated the Al-Aqsa Mosque under the tight protection of Israeli police who attacked and arrested several worshippers in the holy site.
