Jordan condemns Israeli violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Jordan condemned on Wednesday the continued Israeli violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The latest of which were sabotaging the locks of Al-Silsila Gate one of Al-Aqsa’s Gates cutting off wires of loudspeakers at the western area and abusing the employees of the Jordanian Islamic Endowments Department.

Dhaifallah Al-Fayez the spokesman of the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said “The actions of the Israeli police are unacceptable condemned reprehensible and constitute a flagrant provocation of the Muslims’ feelings.”

Fayez stressed that the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque with its entire area of 144 dunums is a place of worship solely for Muslims and its affairs are exclusively supervised by the authority of the Jordanian Endowments and Al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem in accordance with international law and the existing legal and historical situation.

He called on the Israeli authorities to abide by their obligations as the occupying power in Occupied East Jerusalem in accordance with international law.

Fayez called on Israel to respect the sanctity of the Aqsa Mosque and the authority of the Jordanian Endowments and Al-Aqsa Affairs Administration in Jerusalem.
