Sunday 7-August-2016

GAZA (PIC)– Journalist Ashraf Abu Amra has appealed to the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate (PJS) to work on enabling him to travel to Moscow to represent Palestine and receive an international second place award in photojournalism.

Abu Amra from Deir al-Balah town in the Gaza Strip came second for the second time in a row in the 2016 Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest and was invited to attend the awards ceremony and photo exhibition in Moscow.

He called on PA president Mahmoud Abbas and PJS dean Naser Abu Baker to facilitate his travel to Moscow and cover the expenses of his stay in Russia during the event which will be organized for five days.

Abu Amra had also won the second place in the same photo contest last year and was deprived of traveling to participate in the ceremony.

Over 7000 photographers from around the world participated in the contest which is organized by Rossiya Segodnya under the auspices of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.
