Palestinian left-wing factions have applauded the steps that Hamas has taken recently to achieve the national reconciliation and called on the Ramallah-based government to swiftly assume its responsibilities in Gaza.
This came in a joint statement released on Thursday following a news conference held in Gaza City by the National Initiative the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine the Palestinian People’s Party and the Palestinian Democratic Union (FIDA).
The factions also valued the Egyptian efforts to restore the Palestinian unity and described the results of the meetings and talks that were held in Cairo between Hamas and Fatah as “positive developments.”
The leftist factions called for necessarily holding a comprehensive national dialog to form a unity government able to address the impacts of the division and prepare for the elections and complete the reconstruction of Gaza.
They stressed the need for working together to achieve the Palestinian people’s aspiration for freedom independence and return.
